She is also very committed to the profession of psychology and as a result she is a committee member of the Northern Rivers APS committee, the Convener of the APS Psychology and Complementary Medicine Interest Group, the Co-coordinator for the Lismore Mental Health Primary Network and a Committee Member of Health Professionals Australia Reform Association. All of these along with her continued commitment to people have contributed to the quality of psychologist and counsellor she is today.
Caroline is a practitioner who walks her talk. There is nothing Caroline will ask another to do that she has not or would not be willing to do for herself. She takes her personal development very seriously, she sees it as a responsibility to develop herself and her skills both for herself and for the benefit of all others equally. The premise of her counselling style is that we are all amazing, each of us unique and special in our own way. Life has a way of making us forget this, asking us to be different, in some ways asking us to conform and be the same. This style of schooling does not work for everyone, many trying desperately to hang onto their unique and very needed different expressions. When this is not understood, or not nurtured, we become disillusioned with ourselves and with others, and as a result we can tend to give up, get angry, play the blame game, get on with ticking the boxes, disengage with life; the whole time knowing something is missing, that something is wrong. Caroline uses a number of behavioural and strength based practices to enable her clients to recognize and change behaviours and beliefs that are not aiding them. Caroline does this in a very supportive and nurturing way, always building on the positives and making it clear negative behaviours are not who we are.
